Iska G. Wire, a native Houstonian and sixth generation Texan, has been a professional fundraiser for over 18 years. Iska most recently served as the Senior Director of Talent Management and Organizational Development and Director of Development for Rice University’s Development and Alumni Relations Division. Iska previously served as the Director of Development for the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University where she helped to complete a $26.2M capital campaign. Prior to her time at Rice, Iska has held fundraising positions at both the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and the University of Houston.
She is a past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Greater Houston Chapter, and a past chair of AFP International’s Next Generation Committee and earned her CFRE in 2011. Iska currently serves as President of the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council’s (GSSJC) Emerald Circle, is a captain on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Poultry Auction Committee and was in Leadership Houston Class XXVIII.
She holds a B.A. in English with minors in Geology and Environmental Studies from Trinity University in San Antonio, and a M.Ed. from the University of Houston, with a specialization in Upper Elementary Science Education. Iska earned her leadership coaching certification from Rice University’s Doerr Institute, holds a certification for both the EQi and the EQ360 assessment, and is currently working toward her ICF coaching certification.
Outside of the office, Iska leads a Cadette Girl Scout troop, volunteers with Scouts and the rodeo, and spends time with her two children Elsie and Wyatt who are both in the Scottish Arts program at their school.
